Made of Abachi wood and hand-painted, the PLAKKENPOT J pitcher created by Studio Hanna Kooistra is a contemporary reinterpretation of an industrial coffee pot exhibited in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Sculptural and functional at the same time thanks to a special coating, the PLAKKENPOT J diverts this everyday object with taste and derision.

Studio Hanna Kooistra
Native of The Netherlands, the Dutch designer studies, copies and transforms everyday objects to give them a new meaning, generating new structures by mixing different elements of history, materials and techniques.
For Hanna Kooistra, it all started with a coffee pot on display at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. With her creation PLAKKENPOT, Hanna Kooistra wanted to highlight pre-industrial products, which can be both ornamental and functional. From this came her project "Stages of the ordinary", a reinterpretation of the so-called coffee pot with the intention of interlacing the past and the present, decoration and construction, image and product, function and uselessness.
Named Skyblue and made of abachi wood, it is a definitely decorative and practical creation, imagined with taste and derision. Its design process is resolutely experimental. It consists of stacking, cutting, sewing, flattening and folding existing images and shapes to create new aesthetics.
